I missed out on this one as a kid--not appreciating it like I do now. It has become a must-have in my adult years. Super tasty!
Bake or boil, then mash 5 medium yams. To the mash add the following:
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. cream
Place mixture in a casserole dish.
Topping ingredients:
1/4 cup soft butter
3 Tbsp flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans.
Mix topping ingredients together until like coarse meal. Sprinkle over potatoes. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

Thank you so much for having Clark and Myls for Thanksgiving. I asked Myls what his favorite dish was and he said by Lannis's Yam Casserole was delisious. I will be trying it soon!
I know it's not Thanksgiving, but I was remembering how yummy this dish was when we spent Thanksgiving together two years ago. So I decided to look for it and here it was. I made it a couple days ago and it was so great. It's really just like pie.
